My Review of Recalled by Cambria Hebert

Love or Death? A simple question really. The choice seems obvious. But. What if you never knew love, what if your life was spent just trying to survive? What if you knew your fate before you were fully grown?

And then you died.

And you were given another chance. A better chance.

This new life depended upon one thing: your job. And so you agreed. You thought it would be simple. You thought it would be cut and dry.

It never is.

And now you are left holding the fate of someone else in the palm of your hand and you have to make the ultimate choice.

Love or Death?

My Review

Dex and Piper are the new it couple! I read this book last year, and again while on bedrest... and the second time was even better than the first. Dex has been brought back from the dead to escort Piper to her death. The only problem with that little scenario is, Dex has fallen for his target. I'm not going to tell you anything else because it will spoil it for you, but RUN, do not walk to grab copy and fall in love with Dex today! Bravo again, Cambria!!

My Review of Souls by Ednah Walters 3/30

The unforgettable story of CORA and ECHO from Grimnirs continues in the International bestselling RUNES series. The CLEAN VERSION will be available on release day

Eighteen-year-old Cora Jemison knows what it’s like to date a soul reaper. There are no Friday night movies, no school dances, and no stolen kisses between classes. It totally sucks! What makes it even worse, souls pop up when she least expects it. The last one is not her fault, but it all adds up to zero quality time with her super hot, scythe-carrying boyfriend, Echo.

Since Cora was etched with special runes by an evil Immortal, she understands why souls are drawn to her. She makes the best of it by helping souls find closure while Echo escorts them to the realm of the dead. Perfect partners, until a dark soul visits Cora in the dead of the night and Echo decides her soul-helping days are over.

Cora can either listen to Echo or follow her instincts. To make matters worse, other reapers start stalking her, demanding she hand over the soul. Even her Valkyrie friends think she’s gone too far. But something sinister is coming their way, and the soul is the key to saving her town, her friends, and her relationship with Echo. Can she convince Echo to see things her way before it’s too late?

READING ORDER:
Grimnirs series, featuring Cora and Echo, is a spinoff the Runes series and is read as part of the entire series in this order:

Runes (book 1)
Immortals (book 2)
Grimnirs (book 3-bridges book 2 and 4)
Seeress (book 4)
Souls (book 5)
Witches: (book 6)

Ednah Walters has done it again! Everyone who knows me, know that I'm quite picky about my Paranormal reading material. I don't want to read something that's been done a thousand way to Sunday. That's why I can honestly say that I. AM. IN. LOVE. WITH. THIS. SERIES!!! For REALZ! Grimnirs book 1 and Souls book 2 follows Raine's (Runes Series) best friend Cora Jemison and her hot as balls boyfriend, Echo on their journey of love, supernatural happenings... all preparing them for Ragnarok! Ouroboros by Brea Essex

I have to say that I haven't had a chance to read Ouroboros yet, but I bought it, and will be soon! This looks awesome!

Waking up from a coma is hard enough, but throw in an undead ghost at the foot of your hospital bed, and you’ve got a big problem.

While recovering from a rock-climbing accident, eighteen-year-old Rhiannon Sorenson meets Zachary Cohen, a Zayin—one of an elite fighting force for the supernatural realm—and wonders why she’s the only one who can see him. Not only that, he tells her he needs her help to find his physical body, which has mysteriously gone missing. As Rhi reluctantly agrees to come to Zac’s aid, they both uncover a trail of deadly revelations about a powerful and evil being: The Necrovorst.

In this first installment of a trilogy filled with vibrant and imaginative mythology from around the world, follow Zac and Rhi while they face powerful, supernatural beings, and learn all that they can in order to stop The Necrovorst.

K.B. MILLER'S BIRTHDAY BASH BLOG TOUR STOP #14 Lizzy Ford

Today, I am so pleased to spotlight one of the brightest stars in the publishing world, Lizzy Ford! She has published more than twenty books and each new book she releases becomes an instant fan favorite! I should know, because not only am I a fellow author, but I am a huge fan of Lizzy's work.

Don't forget to leave a comment on this post for a chance to win one of my ebooks, and remember the rafflecopter is all the way at the bottom with a lot more yummy prizes to win!

Lizzy Ford is the author of over twenty five novels written for young adult and adult paranormal romance readers, to include the internationally bestselling Rhyn Trilogy, Witchling Trilogy and the War of Gods series. Considered a freak of nature by her peers for the ability to write and release a commercial quality novel in under a month, Lizzy has focused on keeping her readers happy by producing brilliant, gritty romances that remind people why true love is a trial worth enduring.

Since Lizzy has a large selection to showcase, I decided to post my review of one of my favorite books written by this amazing author,
Charred Heart
Modern day retelling of "Beauty and the Beast"

***Recommended for ages 18+ due to multiple, creative, detailed, steamy, sexy-time adult situations.***

For a thousand years, Chace has searched for a way to break the curse placed on him by a jilted lover. He’s a dragon shifter, one who can’t control when the magic will force him into a different form. He’s already lost everyone he ever cared about a few times over and doesn’t know how much longer he’s meant to suffer.

At his wit’s end, he makes a deal with a mysterious figure that offers him what he wants most – an end to his misery – in exchange for everything that’s his: His life, his power. His heart.

The next day, he meets Skylar, a modern day dragon slayer whose mission is to cage him – or kill him. Sexy, witty and brave, she is the yin to his yang, the woman destined to break the curse, balance his magic and make his broken heart whole.

Except it’s too late. Not only has he sealed his fate, but an innocent one-night-stand with Skylar has dragged her into the middle of a deal with the devil, one she won’t escape, if he can’t convince her that dragon shifters aren’t her enemies.

My Review
5 Owls
Dragon Shifters? Um... hell yes! Especially if it's Chace. The chemistry between him and Skylar is off the charts hot, and hilarious. I didn't think that I could get into a shifter story about dragons and yet I found myself sitting on the edge of my bed all night with my kindle in one hand and a fan in the other! I can't wait to start book #2! This is not a stand-alone, so be prepared to be absorbed by dragons for at least the next three days of your life... best three days EVER!

K.B. MILLER'S BIRTHDAY BASH BLOG TOUR STOP #8 Lucian Barnes

Welcome to Tour Stop #8! Today I'm super excited to showcase an author's work that my PA, Jeni is obsessed with! And because of her obsession with the amazing author, Lucian Barnes... I've become obsessed. His work is dark, detailed, and fabulous! Don't forget to leave a comment on this post for a chance to win one of my ebooks, and remember the rafflecopter is all the way at the bottom with a lot more yummy prizes to win!

I spent most of my youth in rural Ohio and began writing stories at an early age. Many of these early attempts at story-telling were inspired by mysteries, such as those found in the old Hardy Boys books and the cartoon antics of Scooby Doo. As I entered my teenage years I began to drift away from writing stories, instead picking up my pencil to compose lyrics for heavy metal songs because my new dream was to become a musician. That vision remained hopeful for many years after my high school graduation, but like most dreams of this nature it died out as I became older.

After working several menial jobs through the years that followed, my thoughts again began to turn toward writing books. Inspired by my favorite author, Stephen King, I took an online creative writing course and slowly began to develop my skills. In late 2010 I was given a violent shove, both by the job market (which was horrible to say the least, and still is) and by the persistent encouragement of close friends, to pick up my pen and begin writing again.

In early 2012, I gave birth (that's almost what it felt like) to my very first published book, Desolace. Finally having a completed novel in my hand was the best feeling in the world for me, giving me a sense of accomplishment I had waited a lifetime for. Since then it has gotten easier for me with each book I have published. Since the initial release of Desolace, I have published four more novels in the series. My latest work is the fifth book of the Desolace Series, Cemetery Hill.

After hearing my personal assistant Jeni rave about Lucian's work for the past 5 months, I picked up the first book in the Desolace series, Desolace. I'm halfway through and all I can say is... O... M...G... freaking epic!!! If you haven't started this series, start now. No, really... stop what you doing and start this series now!!!

Frank Mancini had suffered with his abusive mother for many years, until the day that he snapped. After telling his friend, Johnny, about the incident, his friend encouraged him to leave Misty Hollows. Taking his advice, Frank journeyed across the country to California hoping for a fresh start.
Shortly after his arrival, he met a beautiful woman. He was determined to hide his dark past from her, especially after finding out that she was a psychic, able to see both the past and the future of anyone she came into contact with. He managed to hide his secrets from her until several years after they'd gotten married and started a family. Fearing that she would turn him in to the police, he killed her. Not realizing that his son, George, witnessed this act, Frank decided to take him back to Misty Hollows.
How would the memory of his mother's death effect young George? Would he follow in his father's footsteps? Journey through the years, from infancy to adulthood, with George to see if he can resist the inner darkness!

Newly revised in April of 2013.

A serial killer is loose in Misty Hollows, Ohio and Katie Johnson is sure that her friend Julie has been abducted by this madman. As she searches for her friend, Katie finds an unexpected ally in the ghost of one of the killers victims and soon finds herself transported to a completely foreign time and place. She only hopes that she can find Julie before it's too late.

Please note that this book contains adult material that may not be suitable for younger readers.
Katie finds that the town of Haven is not what it seems as she continues her journey across the strange world of Desolace, searching for her friend, Julie. During her travels Katie makes new friends, but also makes a horrifying discovery. The creatures that she thought to exist only in myths and legends, while she grew up on Earth, are very real on this world! The only bright spot is a message that Katie receives from Julie, but the message is filled with a sense of urgency. Will she find Julie in time? Or will the darkness of this world consume Julie first, leaving only a useless husk of flesh behind?
As Edward and his makeshift group of adventurers descend the stairs leading underground from the Outpost, they find a strange object as well as Katie's friend, Julie. They watch in horror as Melissa disappears through this new portal, and decide to follow her. When they get to the other side, they find themselves in a post-apocalyptic world that resembles Earth. Will Edward be able to lead the group back to Desolace to continue their battle with the Black Knight? Or will they be stuck in this new Hell, fighting just to stay alive?
Upon their return from the post-apocalyptic realm of future Earth, Edward and the remaining members of his group destroy the portal to keep a never-ending flood of zombies from wreaking havoc on Desolace. They are reunited with their ghostly friend, Amber, but have no weapons or supplies and are forced to return to the town of Loknar to seek help. After enlisting the aid of the town guard, and their new friend, Jasper, Edward leads the group toward his home town, the city of Elysia.

When they arrive, Edward is saddened to see his once great city has been decimated. The lone surviving elder speaks to Edward of an incursion by the forces of darkness, which seems bent on completely destroying the largest city upon Desolace. Sending Edward and his faithful followers on a mission to the south, they soon discover a small town, seemingly forgotten and uninhabited for a very long time.

Was it the work of the Black Knight and his minions which has left the city streets littered with corpses? If so, will they be able to stop his madness before it consumes Elysia and everything Edward holds dear to his heart?
After a raging, intense battle with a large contingent of the Black Knight's minions, Edward and the remaining members of his group take shelter in an abandoned inn to lick their wounds. Formulating a plan to chase after the demonic creatures in order to eradicate the threat of a reoccurrence, Brian and Katie head off, leaving their werewolf companion to keep watch over their leader as he attempts to heal.

Following the trail of the railroad tracks, they discover more than they were bargaining for; the retreating demons spring an ambush on the unsuspecting duo as they ascend toward the pinnacle of the mountain. Surviving the surprise attack and, for the time being, eliminating the immediate threat, Brian and Katie continue to climb. As they reach the termination point of the railroad tracks, they find themselves staring at the gaping entrance to a cave.

Determination fueling them, they step through the opening, making sure there aren't more of the tiny demons regrouping inside. As they enter, a blood red veil of light falls over their vision. The expansive chamber is adorned with row upon row of enormous, wooden crosses, some of which have nude prisoners shackled to them. Could this be the place Julie had referred to as Cemetery Hill? If so, what were the odds of her still being alive? Would Katie find her best friend in this chamber of horror, or was she too late?

My Review of The Fiery Heart by Richelle Mead

Sydney Sage is an Alchemist, one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and serve to bridge the worlds of humans and vampires. They protect vampire secrets—and human lives.

In The Indigo Spell, Sydney was torn between the Alchemist way of life and what her heart and gut were telling her to do. And in one breathtaking moment that Richelle Mead fans will never forget, she made a decision that shocked even her. . . .

But the struggle isn't over for Sydney. As she navigates the aftermath of her life-changing decision, she still finds herself pulled in too many directions at once. Her sister Zoe has arrived, and while Sydney longs to grow closer to her, there's still so much she must keep secret. Working with Marcus has changed the way she views the Alchemists, and Sydney must tread a careful path as she harnesses her profound magical ability to undermine the way of life she was raised to defend. Consumed by passion and vengeance, Sydney struggles to keep her secret life under wraps as the threat of exposure—and re-education—looms larger than ever.

Pulses will race throughout this smoldering fourth installment in the New York Times bestselling Bloodlines series, where no secret is safe.

Holy cliffhanger!! I don't want to give any spoilers away so I'm going to stick to the basics for this review. Sydney and Adrian's relationship continues to grow as do their individual characters. Being able to see new and diverse sides to all of the characters was a breath of fresh air. This series is quickly becoming one of my favorites! And, the cliffhanger is a MASSIVE one, so be prepared. Is it July yet?

My Review of The Golden Lily by Richelle Mead

Sydney Sage is an Alchemist, one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and serve to bridge the worlds of humans and vampires. They protect vampire secrets—and human lives.

Sydney would love to go to college, but instead, she’s been sent into hiding at a posh boarding school in Palm Springs, California–tasked with protecting Moroi princess Jill Dragomir from assassins who want to throw the Moroi court into civil war. Formerly in disgrace, Sydney is now praised for her loyalty and obedience, and held up as the model of an exemplary Alchemist.

But the closer she grows to Jill, Eddie, and especially Adrian, the more she finds herself questioning her age–old Alchemist beliefs, her idea of family, and the sense of what it means to truly belong. Her world becomes even more complicated when magical experiments show Sydney may hold the key to prevent becoming Strigoi—the fiercest vampires, the ones who don’t die. But it’s her fear of being just that—special, magical, powerful—that scares her more than anything. Equally daunting is her new romance with Brayden, a cute, brainy guy who seems to be her match in every way. Yet, as perfect as he seems, Sydney finds herself being drawn to someone else—someone forbidden to her.

When a shocking secret threatens to tear the vampire world apart, Sydney’s loyalties are suddenly tested more than ever before. She wonders how she's supposed to strike a balance between the principles and dogmas she's been taught, and what her instincts are now telling her.

Should she trust the Alchemists—or her heart?

My Review

Most of you guys know that I'm a huge Richelle Mead fan, and most of you also know that it took me absolutely forever to get into the first book in this series, Bloodlines. I think it was because I was so used to Rose, Lissa, Dimitri, and Christian that having the main storyline now be about Sydney was a little off to me. However, towards the end of the first book, I was hooked... again!

The Golden Lily took no time at all to dive into and I loved it. Sydney's character is growing and evolving. The whole gang has been through hell and it's no where near over yet! I loved the plot twist Richelle threw into the story, which actually makes so much sense once you find out what it is. And, of course... the sexual tension between Syd and Adrian totally amps up in this story, and it's... HAWT! As per usual, Richelle's writing style was wonderful and crisp. Fresh storyline. This book took me one day to read.

My Review of Suddenly Royal by Nichole Chase

Blurb
Samantha Rousseau is used to getting her hands dirty. Working toward a master’s degree in wildlife biology while helping take care of her sick father, she has no time for celebrity gossip, designer clothes, or lazy vacations. So when a duchess from the small country of Lilaria invites her to dinner, Samantha assumes it’s to discuss a donation for the program. The truth will change the course of her life in ways she never dreamed.

Alex D’Lynsal is trying to keep his name clean. As crown prince of Lilaria, he’s had his share of scandalous headlines, but the latest pictures have sent him packing to America and forced him to swear off women—especially women in the public eye. That is, until he meets Samantha Rousseau. She’s stubborn, feisty, and incredibly sexy. Not to mention heiress to an estate in his country, which makes her everyone’s front-page news.

While Sam tries to navigate the new world of politics and wealth, she will also have to dodge her growing feelings for Alex. Giving in to them means more than just falling in love; it would mean accepting the weight of an entire country on her shoulders.

5 Stars

Wow! Let's break this review down into separate sections, shall we? Perfect! Let's talk about the cover... I'M. IN. LOVE! This cover captures the main character, Sam in all of her perfection!

Characters. I've been a fan of Nichole's ever since I read her book Mortal Obligations (Book 1 in the Dark Betrayal Trilogy). She lets the characters grow into themselves. None of her characters ever feel as though she's forced their growth, attitudes, or persona. The main characters in Suddenly Royal are the same. Sam is fun, loveable and very much her own person. While reading this book, I often pictured Sam's facial expressions in my head and giggled.

Storyline. I'm always a sucker for a book about Princesses (I wanted to be one when I was younger), but I also harbor a healthy bit of skepticism when diving into one. Usually, it's the same old story... just "reworked". NOT WITH THIS BOOK! The storyline is a fresh, new take on this old tale. Sam is the girl that any girl would want to be and the girl that any man would want for his own. An absolute love story for the masses. The only complaint I have about this book is I wish that I could read it again for the first time! It's that darn good!

Featured Author, Teresa Mummert

Have you ever felt an instant connection with an author? Their words touch your soul to the core? Well, I have and I'm not alone concerning this author. I met her through another fabulous friend and author, Cat Miller. She told me, "K.B., you have to check out Teresa Mummert! She is one funny chick and she's a kick ass writer!" So, of course... I went to check her out. The first thing that I saw when I went to her page was;
"I was a Russian spy at the ripe age of thirteen, given my uncanny ability to tell if someone was lying ( I also read fortunes on the weekends). By sixteen I had become too much of a handful for the Lethal Intelligence Ensemble (L.I.E.). I was quickly exiled to the south of France where I worked with wayward elephants in the Circus of Roaming Animals and People (C.R.A.P.). I was able to make ends meet by selling my organs on the black market for pocket change and beer money. At the age of twenty three I decided to expand my horizons and become a blackjack dealer in Ireland. I loved the family atmosphere at Barney's Underground Liquor Lounge (B.U.L.L.). People couldn't resist the allure of Liquor up front and poker in the rear. Eventually I became tired of the rear and headed off to the United States to try my hand at tall tales. That is what brings us here today. If you have a moment I'd like to tell you a story. (This bio is not to be taken seriously under any circumstance.)"
See what I mean? Instant awesomeness!
I immediately sent her a friends request on Facebook. After a few exchanges, I knew that she had a sense of humor like mine. This chick is AH-mazeballs!
But, what about her writing, K.B.? Is she any "good" I was asked repeatedly as I began sharing links for her books on my fanpage. Well... I needed to read one of her books to find out, right? Right. Problem... I wasn't a fan a Contemporary Romance. However, I had to know if this chick could write. So, she had just released The Note and the cover caught my attention, because it was simple, yet beautiful. I grabbed my kindle and downloaded it from Amazon.

Seven hours and almost a full box of tissues later... Holy BALLS!

First, I discovered that I DO in fact enjoy Contemporary Romance... if it's written well.

Second, HOLY BALLS, again! The Note wowed and impressed the hell out of me. That's saying a LOT coming from a YA/NA Paranormal writer ;) The way Teresa took a very simple and real issue facing some of our service men and women today and spun this tragic, yet heartwarming tale of love triumphing over heartbreak was perfection at its finest. 5 star book! If you haven't checked it out, go now! Click on the pictures, they'll take you right over there :)

After reading The Note, I downloaded all of her books in addition to purchasing the ones that were available in print. You guys know me, I only buy books in print that I know I'll read again. And all of Teresa's books are GOLD! I've listed them all below for you. EVEN the books that are available for pre-order. Get your download on, but I must warn you... have tissues and in some cases, a fan and cigarette at the ready! Happy Reading <3
